What changed everything for me was stepping out of the retail routine and learning to roast my own. At first, it felt intimidating. Then it became transformative.
The first crack, the shift in aroma, the way each batch takes on its own personality — suddenly coffee wasn't just something I drank. It became a ritual. Every roast, every cup, felt unique, memorable, alive.

I started Burge Coffee to share that experience — the slow, simple joy of creating something with your own hands, and the way it turns an ordinary moment into a story worth telling.
The name "Burge" is my family name, and that matters. This isn't a brand built by a marketing team. It's built by a dad in Missouri who wanted his kids to grow up knowing that good things are worth making yourself. That craft is a kind of attention. That the best moments happen when you slow down enough to notice them.
Everything we make — the roasting kits, the Field Guide, the free tools, the community roaster map — comes from that same place. Not scaling for scale's sake. Just making things worth sharing, and sharing them with people who get it.
